68 : 1

نٓ وَالقَلَمِ وَمَا یَسطُرُونَ

Noon waalqalami wama yasturoona

Nun. By the pen and what they inscribe

68 : 2

مَآ اَنتَ بِنِعمَۃِ رَبِّکَ بِمَجنُون

Ma anta biniAAmati rabbika bimajnoonin

You are not, [O Muhammad], by the favor of your Lord, a madman

68 : 3

وَاِنَّ لَکَ لَاَجرًا غَیرَ مَمنُون

Wainna laka laajran ghayra mamnoonin

And indeed, for you is a reward uninterrupted

68 : 4

وَاِنَّکَ لَعَلَی خُلُقٍ عَظِیم

Wainnaka laAAala khuluqin AAatheemin

And indeed, you are of a great moral character

68 : 5

فَسَتُبصِرُ وَیُبصِرُونَ

Fasatubsiru wayubsiroona

So you will see and they will see

68 : 6

بِاَییِّکُمُ المَفتُونُ

Biayyikumu almaftoonu

Which of you is the afflicted [by a devil]

68 : 7

اِنَّ رَبَّکَ هُوَ اَعلَمُ بِمَن ضَلَّ عَن سَبِیلِهِ وَهُوَ اَعلَمُ بِالمُهتَدِینَ

Inna rabbaka huwa aAAlamu biman dalla AAan sabeelihi wahuwa aAAlamu bialmuhtadeena

Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who has gone astray from His way, and He is most knowing of the [rightly] guided

68 : 8

فَلَا تُطِعِ المُکَذِّبِینَ

Fala tutiAAi almukaththibeena

Then do not obey the deniers

68 : 9

وَدُّواْ لَو تُدهِنُ فَیُدهِنُونَ

Waddoo law tudhinu fayudhinoona

They wish that you would soften [in your position], so they would soften [toward you]

68 : 10

وَلَا تُطِع کُلَّ حَلَّاف مَّهِینٍ

Wala tutiAA kulla hallafin maheenin

And do not obey every worthless habitual swearer

68 : 11

هَمَّاز مَّشَّآءِ بِنَمِیم

Hammazin mashshain binameemin

[And] scorner, going about with malicious gossip

68 : 12

مَّنَّاع لِّلخَیرِ مُعتَدٍ اَثِیمٍ

MannaAAin lilkhayri muAAtadin atheemin

A preventer of good, transgressing and sinful

68 : 13

عُتُلِّ بَعدَ ذَلِکَ زَنِیمٍ

AAutullin baAAda thalika zaneemin

Cruel, moreover, and an illegitimate pretender

68 : 14

اَن کَانَ ذَا مَال وَبَنِینَ

An kana tha malin wabaneena

Because he is a possessor of wealth and children

68 : 15

اِذَا تُتلَی عَلَیهِ ءَایَتُنَا قَالَ اَسَطِیرُ الاَوَّلِینَ

Itha tutla AAalayhi ayatuna qala asateeru alawwaleena

When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples

68 : 16

سَنَسِمُهُ عَلَی الخُرطُومِ

Sanasimuhu AAala alkhurtoomi

We will brand him upon the snout

68 : 17

اِنَّا بَلَونَهُم کَمَا بَلَونَآ اَصحَبَ الجَنَّۃِ اِذ اَقسَمُواْ لَیَصرِمُنَّهَا مُصبِحِینَ

Inna balawnahum kama balawna ashaba aljannati ith aqsamoo layasrimunnaha musbiheena

Indeed, We have tried them as We tried the companions of the garden, when they swore to cut its fruit in the [early] morning

68 : 18

وَلَا یَستَثنُونَ

Wala yastathnoona

Without making exception

68 : 19

فَطَافَ عَلَیهَا طَآئِفٞ مِّن رَّبِّکَ وَهُم نَآئِمُونَ

Fatafa AAalayha taifun min rabbika wahum naimoona

So there came upon the garden an affliction from your Lord while they were asleep

68 : 20

فَاَصبَحَت کَالصَّرِیمِ

Faasbahat kaalssareemi

And it became as though reaped

68 : 21

فَتَنَادَواْ مُصبِحِینَ

Fatanadaw musbiheena

And they called one another at morning

68 : 22

اَنِ اغدُواْ عَلَی حَرثِکُم اِن کُنتُم صَرِمِینَ

Ani ighdoo AAala harthikum in kuntum sarimeena

[Saying], "Go early to your crop if you would cut the fruit

68 : 23

فَانطَلَقُواْ وَهُم یَتَخَفَتُونَ

Faintalaqoo wahum yatakhafatoona

So they set out, while lowering their voices

68 : 24

اَن لَّا یَدخُلَنَّهَا الیَومَ عَلَیکُم مِّسکِینٞ

An la yadkhulannaha alyawma AAalaykum miskeenun

[Saying], "There will surely not enter it today upon you [any] poor person

68 : 25

وَغَدَواْ عَلَی حَرد قَدِرِینَ

Waghadaw AAala hardin qadireena

And they went early in determination, [assuming themselves] able

68 : 26

فَلَمَّا رَاَوهَا قَالُوٓاْ اِنَّا لَضَآلُّونَ

Falamma raawha qaloo inna ladalloona

But when they saw it, they said, "Indeed, we are lost

68 : 27

بَل نَحنُ مَحرُومُونَ

Bal nahnu mahroomoona

Rather, we have been deprived

68 : 28

قَالَ اَوسَطُهُم اَلَم اَقُل لَّکُم لَولَا تُسَبِّحُونَ

Qala awsatuhum alam aqul lakum lawla tusabbihoona

The most moderate of them said, "Did I not say to you, 'Why do you not exalt [Allah]

68 : 29

قَالُواْ سُبحَنَ رَبِّنَآ اِنَّا کُنَّا ظَلِمِینَ

Qaloo subhana rabbina inna kunna thalimeena

They said, "Exalted is our Lord! Indeed, we were wrongdoers

68 : 30

فَاَقبَلَ بَعضُهُم عَلَی بَعض یَتَلَوَمُونَ

Faaqbala baAAduhum AAala baAAdin yatalawamoona

Then they approached one another, blaming each other

68 : 31

قَالُواْ یَوَیلَنَآ اِنَّا کُنَّا طَغِینَ

Qaloo ya waylana inna kunna tagheena

They said, "O woe to us; indeed we were transgressors

68 : 32

عَسَی رَبُّنَآ اَن یُبدِلَنَا خَیرا مِّنهَآ اِنَّآ اِلَی رَبِّنَا رَغِبُونَ

AAasa rabbuna an yubdilana khayran minha inna ila rabbina raghiboona

Perhaps our Lord will substitute for us [one] better than it. Indeed, we are toward our Lord desirous

68 : 33

کَذَلِکَ العَذَابُ وَلَعَذَابُ الآخِرَۃِ اَکبَرُ لَو کَانُواْ یَعلَمُونَ

Kathalika alAAathabu walaAAathabu alakhirati akbaru law kanoo yaAAlamoona

Such is the punishment [of this world]. And the punishment of the Hereafter is greater, if they only knew

68 : 34

اِنَّ لِلمُتَّقِینَ عِندَ رَبِّهِم جَنَّتِ النَّعِیمِ

Inna lilmuttaqeena AAinda rabbihim jannati alnnaAAeemi

Indeed, for the righteous with their Lord are the Gardens of Pleasure

68 : 35

اَفَنَجعَلُ المُسلِمِینَ کَالمُجرِمِینَ

AfanajAAalu almuslimeena kaalmujrimeena

Then will We treat the Muslims like the criminals

68 : 36

مَا لَکُم کَیفَ تَحکُمُونَ

Ma lakum kayfa tahkumoona

What is [the matter] with you? How do you judge

68 : 37

اَم لَکُم کِتَبٞ فِیهِ تَدرُسُونَ

Am lakum kitabun feehi tadrusoona

Or do you have a scripture in which you learn

68 : 38

اِنَّ لَکُم فِیهِ لَمَا تَخَیَّرُونَ

Inna lakum feehi lama takhayyaroona

That indeed for you is whatever you choose

68 : 39

اَم لَکُم اَیمَنٌ عَلَینَا بَلِغَۃٌ اِلَی یَومِ القِیَمَۃِ اِنَّ لَکُم لَمَا تَحکُمُونَ

Am lakum aymanun AAalayna balighatun ila yawmi alqiyamati inna lakum lama tahkumoona

Or do you have oaths [binding] upon Us, extending until the Day of Resurrection, that indeed for you is whatever you judge

68 : 40

سَلهُم اَیُّهُم بِذَلِکَ زَعِیمٌ

Salhum ayyuhum bithalika zaAAeemun

Ask them which of them, for that [claim], is responsible

68 : 41

اَم لَهُم شُرَکَآءُ فَلیَاتُواْ بِشُرَکَآئِهِم اِن کَانُواْ صَدِقِینَ

Am lahum shurakao falyatoo bishurakaihim in kanoo sadiqeena

Or do they have partners? Then let them bring their partners, if they should be truthful

68 : 42

یَومَ یُکشَفُ عَن سَاق وَیُدعَونَ اِلَی السُّجُودِ فَلَا یَستَطِیعُونَ

Yawma yukshafu AAan saqin wayudAAawna ila alssujoodi fala yastateeAAoona

The Day the shin will be uncovered and they are invited to prostration but the disbelievers will not be able

68 : 43

خَشِعَۃً اَبصَرُهُم تَرهَقُهُم ذِلَّۃٞ وَقَد کَانُواْ یُدعَونَ اِلَی السُّجُودِ وَهُم سَلِمُونَ

KhashiAAatan absaruhum tarhaquhum thillatun waqad kanoo yudAAawna ila alssujoodi wahum salimoona

Their eyes humbled, humiliation will cover them. And they used to be invited to prostration while they were sound

68 : 44

فَذَرنِی وَمَن یُکَذِّبُ بِهَذَا الحَدِیثِ سَنَستَدرِجُهُم مِّن حَیثُ لَا یَعلَمُونَ

Fatharnee waman yukaththibu bihatha alhadeethi sanastadrijuhum min haythu la yaAAlamoona

So leave Me, [O Muhammad], with [the matter of] whoever denies the Qur'an. We will progressively lead them [to punishment] from where they do not know

68 : 45

وَاُملِی لَهُم اِنَّ کَیدِی مَتِینٌ

Waomlee lahum inna kaydee mateenun

And I will give them time. Indeed, My plan is firm

68 : 46

اَم تَسَٔلُهُم اَجرا فَهُم مِّن مَّغرَم مُّثقَلُونَ

Am tasaluhum ajran fahum min maghramin muthqaloona

Or do you ask of them a payment, so they are by debt burdened down

68 : 47

اَم عِندَهُمُ الغَیبُ فَهُم یَکتُبُونَ

Am AAindahumu alghaybu fahum yaktuboona

Or have they [knowledge of] the unseen, so they write [it] down

68 : 48

فَاصبِر لِحُکمِ رَبِّکَ وَلَا تَکُن کَصَاحِبِ الحُوتِ اِذ نَادَی وَهُوَ مَکظُومٞ

Faisbir lihukmi rabbika wala takun kasahibi alhooti ith nada wahuwa makthoomun

Then be patient for the decision of your Lord, [O Muhammad], and be not like the companion of the fish when he called out while he was distressed

68 : 49

لَّولَآ اَن تَدَرَکَهُ نِعمَۃٞ مِّن رَّبِّهِ لَنُبِذَ بِالعَرَآءِ وَهُوَ مَذمُومٞ

Lawla an tadarakahu niAAmatun min rabbihi lanubitha bialAAarai wahuwa mathmoomun

If not that a favor from his Lord overtook him, he would have been thrown onto the naked shore while he was censured

68 : 50

فَاجتَبَهُ رَبُّهُ فَجَعَلَهُ مِنَ الصَّلِحِینَ

Faijtabahu rabbuhu fajaAAalahu mina alssaliheena

And his Lord chose him and made him of the righteous

68 : 51

وَاِن یَکَادُ الَّذِینَ کَفَرُواْ لَیُزلِقُونَکَ بِاَبصَرِهِم لَمَّا سَمِعُواْ الذِّکرَ وَیَقُولُونَ اِنَّهُ لَمَجنُونٞ

Wain yakadu allatheena kafaroo layuzliqoonaka biabsarihim lamma samiAAoo alththikra wayaqooloona innahu lamajnoonun

And indeed, those who disbelieve would almost make you slip with their eyes when they hear the message, and they say, "Indeed, he is mad

68 : 52

وَمَا هُوَ اِلَّا ذِکرٞ لِّلعَلَمِینَ

Wama huwa illa thikrun lilAAalameena

But it is not except a reminder to the worlds
